Your participation in our annual Sporting Clays Charity Classic helps support the initiatives of Non-Profit Organizations to generate funds, encourage volunteerism, and provide other non-governmental solutions to assist in local community needs. More governmental involvement using taxpayer dollars is not the solution for America’s future!

Thank you for supporting our Sporting Clays Charity Classic as an annual fundraising event. It serves as an opportunity for sportsmen in the Greater Atlanta Community to come together in support of all that makes our communities a welcoming place to live, work and raise our families while supporting local youth charities. Each fall, civic organizations, businesses, churches and foundations join together to participate in a unique setting at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays located in Waleska where business and community leaders sponsor four-person squads to participate in a new and fun competition. The the funds raised are directed to help youth charities often overlooked by larger philanthropic fundraising organizations.

The fall outdoors event promises to be fun and enjoyable for the entire family. Even though trophy awards are presented to the high score shooters in the individual men’s, women’s and squad categories, competition is de-emphasized during the fun shoot. BBQ will be served for lunch along with exciting silent auction and door-prize items available. Fun and fellowship remains the goal for everyone.
Safety is paramount for the shooting venue with trained volunteers ensuring that strict compliance is observed at each station regarding, muzzle control, ear and eye protection and proper sporting clays etiquette. Golf carts are available along with shotgun rentals.
Similar to the game of golf, sporting clays utilizes a shotgun rather than a set of golf clubs. Twenty-seven stations provide the forum for each squad of four shooters to rotate throughout the fourteen station course to shoot 100 clay targets. The targets are launched from the “clay throwing platforms” to simulate the flush of a covey of quail or that of a rabbit running across the path in front of the shooter. Each station is set up either as a “report pair” or “true pair’ to add variety while each station is unique in clay target patterns.

The youth charities supported by the event are registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a #501 (c ) 3 Non-Profit organization. Checks and donations made directly to these charities are fully deductible for income tax deduction purposes. All charities benefiting from the fundraising event have mission statements consistent with the purposes of the Sporting Clays Charity Classic, Supporting the Next Generation of America’s Youth!
